Oskar Blues Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

“This was a complete no brainer for a barrel aged beer,” said Longmont Cellar Manager Dennis McShea. “Regular DBC takes the palate to a different place from the typical beer world of malt and hops. When you think of coconut, you think tropical and when you think tropical, you think rum. If that wasn’t decadent enough, the beer already has Cholaca, a drink derived from cacao, to top it off. To sum it up we wanted a beer that sends your palate on vacation.” Read More »

Beer Geek Nation presents San Diego Beer Vlog: Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale Video Beer Review

Brewed with hefty amounts of European malts and four kinds of American hops, it delivers a blast of hop aromas, a rich middle of malt and hops, and a thrilling finish. It weighs in at 6.5 % alcohol by volume. Why squeeze such a big brew into a little can? Because we think fun in the great outdoors calls for great beer. Our cans go where bottled beers can’t, where flavorless canned beers don’t belong. And no matter where you drink Dale’s Pale Ale, our can protect it from light and oxidation far better than bottles do. Northern Brewer for bittering, Cascade and Columbus for flavor, and a big, post-boil addition of Centennial for aroma. Read More »

Oskar Blues Deviant Dale’s IPA | Beer Geek Nation Beer Reviews Episode 314

This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Beer Geek Nation presents San Diego Beer Vlog: Oskar Blues Old Chub Video Review

Old Chub is a Scottish style ale brewed with copious amounts of crystal and chocolate malts, and a dash of beechwood-smoked malts. While Dale’s Pale Ale (“the best-tasting canned beer I’ve ever had,” according to many brewers and beer experts) is a showcase of both hops and pale malts, Old Chub is a celebration of malts. The cola-colored beer features a dense, tawny head, a creamy mouthful and flavors of caramel, chocolate and lightly roasted malt. Complex and rich, it finishes with a whisper of smokiness that calls to mind a fine single malt scotch. Old Chub weighs in at 8 % alcohol by volume. Read More »

Beer Geek Nation presents San Diego Beer Vlog: Oskar Blues Ten Fidy Video Beer Review

Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness. Read More »

Beer Geek Nation Beer Revew: Oskar Blues Brewery Dale’s Pale Ale

Oskar Blues Brewery, from Lyons Colorado, claims to be the first US craft brewery to can its own beer and they did so with their Dale’s Pale Ale back in 2002. Calling it the “Canned Beer Apocalypse”, they now can six beers year round including Dale’s Pale Ale. Oskar Blues’ take on a pale ale brings forth 6.5% ABV and 65 IBUs from that you’ll find in six packs where ever you can find their beer (see the beer locator on their website, oskarblues.com). There’s something odd yet very appealing about pouring a craft beer from a can but Oskar Blues claims that aluminum cans keep the beer fresher for longer by keeping out the light and ingressed oxygen. Dale’s Pale Ale pours a clear golden color with just a hint of amber. Into a pint glass I poured about a one finger head. ... Read More »
