Flying Dog out of Fredrick MD makes American German and Belgian style beers. Covering a wide range of styles. The beers are uncompromising along with the label art.
Raging Bitch has had its share of controversy for its name and the art on the bottle. It took 6 months to get the label and name approved here in AZ and in some states they rejected the name and label.
Appearance wise very nice amber color with an off white head that is creamy with tiny bubbles. Head retention and lacing is very nice. No haze at all beer is very clear. Aroma is hoppy nectar goodness. Sweet hops along with pineapple and grapefruit. Taste is sweet hops and malt hit you first with a bold finish of pine and citrus that leave the tongue dry.
Over all this is one of my favorite flying dog beers. The smell really is amazing its hard to describe best way of putting it is hop nectar. I do get the smell in the taste but its finish is dry with pine and citrus. I don’t get that in the smell at all. This is not a typical Belgian IPA, more hoppy then most. At 8.3% it packs a punch, however Alcohol is well hidden. I was debating whether or not to give this an A or an A- thinking about it I can’t find anything wrong with this beer. I give this a solid A.
