Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA (16.5% ABV 2017) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Clocking in at 15-20% ABV, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, and then dry-hopped with another pallet of hops. Unfiltered and abundently hoppy, it’s the Holy Grail for hopheads! We brew 120 Minute IPA a few times a year, but it goes fast. If you find some grab a few bottles — some to enjoy and some to age. Stone Enjoy By IPA – 02.14.17 Coffee & Chocolate | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

It’s not unusual to see pronouncements of “I Heart Hops,” “I Heart Chocolate” or “I Heart Coffee” throughout #socialmedia, printed on T-shirts and, natch, emblazoned on coffee cups. Over the past couple of decades we have helped add “I Freaking Heart IPAs” to that lexicon. Today, passionate people can’t imagine a world without all of the above. For this special edition, we added chocolate and coffee to make this devastatingly fresh IPA even more seductive to the palate. We humbly suggest that you use this libation to proclaim your love for someone… and we suggest that someone be you. Loving yourself is exactly what this libation is all about. Love now; remember forever. Read More »

Union Craft Double Duckpin | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Don’t get us wrong, we love us some Duckpin Pale Ale. Its still our go-to, hop forward, refreshing session pale – but in honor of the opening of the 5th Annual Baltimore Beer Week , we’ve lowered the bumpers, buffed our balls, & bowled ten frames of hops straight down the lane of our original pale ale to create the hoppiest IPA we’ve ever brewed. Stone Ruination 2.0 | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Stone Ruination IPA was the first full-time brewed and bottled West Coast double IPA on the planet. As craft beer has evolved over the years, so too have techniques for maximizing hop flavors and aromas. For the second incarnation of our groundbreaking India pale ale, we employed dry hopping and hop bursting to squeeze every last drop of piney, citrusy, tropical essence from the hops that give this beer its incredible character. We’ve also updated the name to reflect the imperial-level intensity that’s evident in every sip. Join us in cheering this, the second stanza in our “Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop.” Read More »

Trillium Upper Case Double IPA (Best East Coast IPA?) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

UPPER CASE has a delicate, dry pilsner malt character with a smooth, soft, doughy mouthfeel from the raw wheat, oily hop resin which all serves as a canvas for this twice dry hopped 9% double IPA. Overipe mango, pineapple and passion fruit aromas leap out as the beer is poured. The impression of tropical fruit also takes the lead in the flavor which is layered further by white wine, pine resin and grapefruit zest. Hopped primarily with Mosaic with supporting roles played by Galaxy, Citra and Columbus. We figured there will be considerable interest, so brewed 3 batches! The first batch of UPPER CASE will be available on March 21st at 10am. Limit four 25.4/750ml bottles, up to 64oz in growler fills per person. Read More »

Fat Heads Hop JuJu Imperial IPA (Best of 2015?) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Bells The Oracle DIPA Ale | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise. Read More »
