Oskar Blues Fugli IPA | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Yuzu and Ugli fruit infusions twisted together with the blueberry, tangerine notes of Mosaic make for a tangy, juicy, zesty array of aroma and flavor. Salivation will instantly ensue with one sniff of this crushable brew (5.8% ABV, 60 IBUs) that was inspired by a Yuzu brew we made with some brewing friends in Japan. Read More »

Equilibrium MC2 (Best NE Style IPA?) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

mc² (8.0% ABV) is Photon’s big brother. We literally took Photon’s hopping rate and squared it. This DIPA is our tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. It pours a hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. mc² tastes like succulent mango juice loaded with chewy hop resins. It’s very drinkable for 8.0%; be careful, this one can sneak up on you. Read More »

Creature Comforts / Modern Times Modern Comforts Imperial IPA | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Modern Comforts is a collaboration with our friends at Modern Times in San Diego. For this massively hopped Double IPA we used Citra and Mosaic hop pellets, CO2 hop extract, and lupulin powder from YCH Hops. Using all three of these hop products, and putting our minds together with our west coast friends, we absolutely saturated the hop flavor and aroma in this beer. Read More »

It is brewed and bottled by Belching Beaver Brewery, Vista or Oceanside, California. San Diego County. Stone Tangerine Express IPA | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

http://www/twitch.tv/beergeekgaming http://facebook.com/beergeeknation http://www.beergeeknation.com Tweets by beergeeknation Stone Tangerine Express IPA Stone Brewing 6.7% ABV Beer Geek Nation Rating: B This ain’t no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids. Read More »

Trillium IWANTTOBU DOUBLE IPA (Zero IBU Beer) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

This past August, we were fortunate to be a part of the inaugural Forever Summer Festival, hosted by The Veil at their brewery in Richmond, Virginia, where JC met owner/Head brewer, Matt Tarpey. Matt’s approach to brewing breaks from conventionalism by pushing boundaries and methodologies. IwanttoBU blends Trillium’s techniques and house character, with The Veil’s unique brewing style to create an incredibly flavorful and aromatic hop forward beer with no kettle hop additions. IwanttoBU is a 0 IBU beer with no hop additions in the kettle. A large whirlpool addition of El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra and Citra Lupulin Powder, plus a massive dry hop (4 lbs per barrel) of Citra and Simcoe. The nose is filled with notes of pine needles, citrus zest and plum. Flavors of lemongrass and citrus emerge on the palate, complimented by a dank, piney character. The beer finishes with ... Trillium SIGTEBRØD DOUBLE DRY HOPPED IPA (Best Trillium Beer!?) | Beer Geek Nation Craft Beer Reviews

Inspired by traditional Danish wheat bread, this beer incorporates stone ground whole wheat flour in the mash to create a rustic, bready character. For layered complexity, we added tangerine peel and raw wildflower honey into the whirlpool followed by a double dry hop of Citra/Amarillo. Candied orange, lemon and freshly baked bread permeate the nose. Flavors of tangerine peel, grape and rustic bread emerge on the palate, rounded out by a crisp and balanced finish. Read More »
